1) The Clerics on Temple ground floor that randomly appear when you use the Resurrection Altar (NOT the two by the Four Winds Engraving at the start) sometimes swap colour of clothes when they are hit.
2) Mezz 05, Mezz 06 (Automap) - You might want to alter these to Temple 05, Temple 06 (or, Darkmoon 05, Darkmoon 06).
3) Dung (on Automap) - You should probably alter this to Dungeon.
4) Jail (Automap) - You should probably alter this to Cell (also, this might affect EOB I).
5) Silver 09 (Automap) - The Beholder is incorrectly placed. It appears at X30, Y00.
6) You might want to mark the Altar of Darkmoon on Silver 09 map (X28, Y29).
7) Mezz (10, 11, 12, 13) (Automap) should probably be Azure (or, Crystal).
8) Dungeon level 1: X10, Y22 / X06, Y22 / X06, Y15 are not Jail/Cell, they should be marked as Barracks, or Guard Rooms.
9) The Frost Giant King's speech is shown in black text instead of white; this is also true of the Giant turning into a tree in the Crimson Tower.
10) Dying Cleric: The screen behind the text is all in black, not like other dialogues.
11) The Frost Giants gfx are messed up (see attached screengrab).
12) If I turn on the Automap cheat, then load a saved game, the cheat is still activated; I think it should be turned off.
13) The utility PatchFor020 says that it finds code in the executable files of both EOB I and EOB II that can be optimised for 020+ processors. Is this a good idea, or will it break something?
Phew! That's a few things I've noticed. I hope it's of some help to you, CFOU! This is an excellent project that you've worked on, and I have no doubt I'll be playing these every couple of months. All hail CFOU! :-)

The file should be attached. It's Save05.
I was running the WHDLoad version of the game, using WinUAE, emulating an A4K with 8Mb chipRAM, if that makes any difference. I found that if I had any fastRAM at all, the game would load the first screen of the intro, then the music would stick and the game would freeze permanently. Only by removing fast and upping chipRAM could I get it to work. I don;t know if that's a bug.

just as a thought, my party of 4 characters, the ones that were with me at the start of the game, as i dropped the NPCs, had one of them disintegrated by the beholder right when the party pushed the main dude in the sylvias trap. it was so fast that with the 3 or 4 messages appearing together in the message area, i did not see the one related to the special quest, but i did hear the "poing" sound that goes along it. also i am not sure about one quest, the one in level 4 (pull the chain to reveal the Drow Cleaver) because i've played that part in august, and continued from more or less the 7th level just the other day, and in my back pack i don't have that item. it could be the special quest n.4 is completed either way, if you get it or not.
however, with this in mind, my password was "0001" it would be worty to know if with 6 characters it too becomes of 6 letters, if the 1 means that i missed a special quest or not or if the 1 means that i have 1 character dead (but he was the one at the bottom LEFT of my party, while i could be leaded to think that he would need to be at the RIGHT for this reasoning to have merit) or if all of this means jack.
also it could have been meant to play a role in the transfer of the party to the next game, but
the party isn't saved when you kill the beholder and you export instead a savegame before the confrontation.

I just wonder HOW can be used the pass\palyers names
to activate the cheat (?)...
Marcuz 13:28 29 December 2006
i tend to believe it was not implemented. also what kind of password is "0001"?
however, if it is the case of players names, it should focus the search on the code to whatever looks for them names in the savegame. or not. boh?

update: all graphic glitches goes away if, in addition to no JIT enabled, you turn on full collision level, cycle exact cpu and blitter, more compatible cpu emulation and match A500 speed. this way the emulation is sluggish. if you turn the collision level to sprites and sprites vs playfield, you get the error only once in a while and the emulation speed is acceptable

well i've finished the game again, the WHD version, all my party was alive and the password was the same : 0001
the translation is ok (i had read the thing to quickly and only catch the word "password" before :P ) however, as soon as i clicked the page, again the game exited. the error:

Hello CFou!
Just want to say thank you to you and all the people that helped with this great project. My amiga motivation was going to point zero at the end of the year, but now it is back, 100% reloaded.
:-) :-) :-)
Is it possible to spend some money using paypal to you?
:-) Hoping to support more conversations, like Dune 2 AGA and many more nice whdload installs.
Thank you! Yipieeeehhhhhhh!

keropi 19:48 20 January 2007
ok... I use english OS3.9 with bb1+2 , an A4000D with a mk2/060-60mhz accelerator, a picassoIV and an ariadne... no strange patches, no kickflash rom loaded (disabled) no poseidon or tcp stack running...

Rather big update for the C64 clone.
Check it out at
http://noname.c64.org/csdb/release/?id=38521 (use VICE for emulator). Read the production details for information how to use it, such as keys and mouse emulation.
Next stop is to add 3d view icons and monsters.
Have fun!
Regards, Andreas

Haha! Good to know you're still alive.
:-) I've recently had a crash course in 68K-asm held by Graham/Oxyron (thanx man!) and have started understanding your disassembled code. First thing out is to understand how CPS-compression variant 0 works...

I thought I just post a post here to keep the spirit up!
:-) The C64 project is still moving forward in a slow but steady pace. I've concluded the best graphics format for the monsters and have currently one graphichan working in converting the spiders and the dwarfes. A similar format will be used for the 3d-objects and the decoration overlays. I've also optimized the other graphics in the game.
I expect the graphics for the monsters to be in my hands in the end of this month. Then I'll be able to move forward and hopefully we will see some spider action on one of the drawf levels!
:-)
Anyways, please keep the spirit up! All these projects MUST NOT DIE.
Marcuz 10:56 14 March 2007
Jack!
:-) thank you for the supporting, but this one project is pretty much finished: there are still the odd bugs to chase, but with a little application, one can go through the whole game flawlessly.
On the other hand, all the interesting features that i was hoping for at the start (dungeon editors, other conversions: EoB3 and what not) would require a new big effort from a lot of persons again, and i see that people is busy in real life and work.
however, if they will happen me too i'll be here to help
:-)
PS: i look forward to play the finished version of the C64 version by you; the demo was great!

I only just discovered this project -- it's awesome! What an amazing piece of work!
:-):-)
I thought I'd check out the tools for the project, especially the UnCPS-AGA tool -- especially interested in using it to grab the wall images from EOB and lands of Lore.
I see that it's been pretty quiet for a long time, so I don't know if anyone can help me with it, but I'm having some trouble. I managed to use it to view the GREEN, DROW and XANATHA VCN files from EOB1, but I can't view the BLUE or BRICK images. I either get a black screen or a CLI error saying "Picture not correct size."
I'm running WinUAE 1.4.5 with WB 3.1 (KickStart 3.1 r40.63)
I'd really appreciate any help. Thanks in advance.

I also discovered now this great project and is absolutely fantastic!
:-)
If is posible contribute i'm interested in a translation to the spanish
language.
Great work!
:-)
